Kingdom People 1.0

Moving the Scale

There is a tension between two sides of the lives of students when it comes to justice, mercy and reconciliation. That tension is in their ability to care about others and their ability to care about themselves can be pictured in a set of scales that wavers between selfishness and selflessness.

Selfishness

Selflessness

Think about SELF

Think about OTHERS

Service equals EVENTS

Justice equals LIFESTYLE

Tony Campolo says:

It’s ultimately the Holy Spirit who moves the scales for kids. Yet the Holy Spirit often works in and through (and though we hate to admit it, sometimes despite) us as kingdom people. When we as youth workers NOW try to create an environment in which the Holy Spirit is more able to move students from doing kingdom things to being kingdom people, we tend to resort to a few typical strategies.

What would your typical strategies be at this point?
